L01- Duncan Philpott

Duncan Philpot considers himself to be a sports/landscape photographer. A lot of nature is reflected throughout his photography.

Techniques and elements

This image is a shallow depth of filed as only the bicker is in focus to emphasis the movement. The colouring of the image looks drained and dark to make the image dramatized. This was Duncan's intension as he is trying to exaggerate this small movement by contrasting colours to make a harsh tone. Rule of thirds is used in this image to make it more appealing to the audience. Natural light is used to reinforce the style of photography that Duncan does, which is outside sports. The lighting helps to contrast this image to create a dark violent narrative to it. Landscape is vital in Duncan's work and he has made sure a lot of land is involved in his image to juxtaposed how vibrant the man and his actions are to how subtle the nature is.
